The evolution of narrative in Iran’s travelogue literature

Document Type : مروری

Abstract

Travel is the basis of many literary texts, which has a special importance in the literary attitude due to its defamiliarizing nature. From the first travelogue in Iran; That is, Nasir Khusraw's Safarnama, this literary type has been narrated in different ways until today. From a simple narrative to a postmodern narrative. What is emphasized in this article is the narrative nature of travelogues and their influential position in Iran's story writing. Sometimes, like Nasir Khusraw's Safarnama, they have narrative prose, and sometimes, like Gulistan's anecdotes, they create short stories, and sometimes, like “Ebrahim Bey's Siahatnama”, they become the beginning of the novel in Persian literature. In addition, the language, type of view and space creation of the travelogues are clearly evident in their fictional works.
