Lafontaine's stories in contemporary Iranian poetry

Document Type : مروری

Abstract

Some literary works penetrate through the translation of the literature of each culture, as these translations sometimes help to create similar works in other languages and cultures, and sometimes cause the association of similar thoughts, creating works with similar themes. Accurate knowledge of modern Iranian literature and its evolution is not possible without considering the translation movement. The influence of Western literature and the translation of Western works on Iranian poetry from the Constitutional era onwards is obvious to every researcher. In the meantime, some poets have created their stories, legends and allegorical stories following the Western works. In this article, the author has tried to show the source of some similes in the poetry of Iraj Mirza, Mohammad-Taqi Bahar and Parvin Etisami. These poets were influenced by some of La Fontaine's stories in French or their Persian translation. These translations and adaptations have become such an ornament of Persian poetry that most of them should be considered as inventions of Persian language poets.
