Rule addition in Divan-I Kebir

Document Type : مروری

Abstract

Rule addition is one of the methods of defamiliarization in the school of Russian formalism. In this method, rules are added to the rules of the standard language, which makes them stand out in the literary text. Leech considers accentuation to be possible in two forms: deviating from the rules governing the language (Deviation) and adding rules to the rules governing the language (rule addition). Jacobsen believes that the process of rule addition is nothing but balance in its broadest sense, and this balance is achieved through "Verbal Repetition". The industries that are obtained through balance do not have the same nature, for this reason the types of balance must be examined at different levels of analysis. The use of rule addition indicates the poet's ability to use the linguistic capabilities to make the language unfamiliar and prominent, which Russian formalists consider to be the factor in the formation of a literary work.
Coleridge, the English poet and critic, believed that the poet removes the habit from the audience’s mind through the power of his imagination, especially by using the rule addition, and presents the reality of things to the readers in a newer way. In this research, it is attempted to examine Divan-I Kebir through the rule addition as one of the methods of defamiliarization at the levels of phonetic and lexical analysis, so that corners of the beauty and prominence of Rumi's poems can be revealed to us through this passage.
