Even though the word humor was present in the past of the Persian language, it was not long ago that it became a literary term and then it was widely used in the common language. However, the appearance and approximate time of this word entering the domain of literary terminology is a point that has been neglected in most researches; To solve this problem, we have first examined the dictionary meaning of humor to show that this word needs a new definition based on its modern and idiomatic meaning, and then addressed the main topic of this article, which is the search for when and how the word humor appeared. The result of this research makes it clear that the word humor was proposed and appropriated in the face of French literary terms and its history goes back to the last fourteen decades at most.
