Abstract

In this article, we will analyze the semantic and archetypal images in the story of Siavash based on the theories of Northrop Frye. For this purpose, first, the role of these images in the system of literary tradition is examined; In such a way that the resulting meaning and the associations created by the work in the minds of the community are taken into consideration. Then, the ancient mythological patterns that created the narrative images of this story will be examined. It should be noted that the examination of these images is carried out by categorizing them in the group of images related to heavenly, infernal and analogical worlds. Therefore, we will find the most ancient forms of this story that existed in distant mythology, and finally, through the principle of distancing from the literary work - which Frye proposed - we can identify the coherent whole and the main plot of this narrative. The present article is an attempt to understand the semantic system and find the literary design of the story of Siavash through the analysis of its images.
