The upside-down economy of love: a look at the metaphorical presence of money and economy in Divan-I Kebir

Document Type : مروری

Abstract

Although traces of money and economic issues can be seen in most of the literary works of all parts of the world, it is strange and unfamiliar to believe that there is a deep and unbreakable relationship between money, economy and literature. It is even more strange and unusual to look for such a relationship in Persian mystical poetry. And this is what will be done in this article. Another point is that in most literary criticism works about poetry, novels, etc., almost no attention is paid to the metaphorical aspect of money and economy. Therefore, one of the important issues that this article will address is to show the strong presence of money, gold, and economic issues as metaphors in these works. Also, this article will briefly examine Rumi's attitude towards the language of poetry. Another important point in this article is the historical value of this research in the field of Persian literature. Because neither in the history of Persian literature nor in the history of Iranian literary criticism, the poetry of Rumi and other ancient and modern poets has not been looked at from this point of view. So this approach can be a window to different views and interpretations than what has existed so far.
