In the 8th Century AH, Iranian historians wrote and compiled many historical books and anthologies in Persian. One of the most important historical books of this era is Manahej-Altalebin Fi Maaref-Alsadeghin, written by Ala Qaznawi (726/727- 782 AH). This book comprises world history from the time of creation up to 779 AH. The compilation of the book was finished in 779 AH and it was dedicated to Shah Shoja Mozaffari. Manahej-Altalebin Fi Maaref-Alsadeghin was never printed and as a result, the present study emphasizes the importance of this book. It introduces Ala Qaznawi through utilization of the book’s textual evidences and recognizes content-related elements of the book. In the proceedings of the study, some of the verbal and literary features of the book are introduced and through recognition of Qaznawi’s sources in compilation of the book, the influence of precedential sources on him and his book is identified. At the end of the study, codicology of the book’s manuscript has been surveyed.
