The archetypes, which are referred to the general tendencies of the mind and a kind of preparation for successive production of the same and similar mythological thoughts, are in fact a treasure of the collective psyche, collective thought and way of thinking, feeling and imagination that They appear anywhere and anytime, regardless of tradition. These eternal forms that are revealed in our dreams and imaginations are in fact instinctive and innate thoughts, or tendencies towards behaviors and ideas that according to predetermined patterns, exist naturally and innately in human beings and are manifested in some situations. Some of these archetypes, such as: the mask, the feminine psyche, the masculine psyche, the shadow, the self, and the hero, which are more evolved than the rest and therefore continuously affect our psyche, have been the subject of more attention and research. But although "test" as a type of archetype, has a special role and importance in the excellence and evolution of "hero", it has not been properly considered and researched. In this article, while introducing the archetype of test and reviewing its manifestations in epic and legendary texts, its reflection and function in Nizami’s "Haft Peykar" in general and in the legend of the fourth (red) dome, in particular, have been explored. The final finding of this research is that the archetype test, even where the hero's physical and material ability is measured, indicates the inner behavior of the hero and their inner and spiritual evolution.
