The literary school of realism during its emergence, formation and evolution, has addressed the place of reality in literary works. Some of the characteristics of this literary school are related to the content of fiction works, and some other characteristics, such as dealing with details and the link between scene design and characterization, refer to the structure and techniques of storytelling; Each storyteller, by choosing the type of specific narrative elements in the advancement of his narrative, benefits from a specific pattern in creating the narrative style of his story, and in this way, he uses all the narrative elements together and on a chain of events to serve the story. With the connection between realism and special narrative techniques in the story, a style of narration was formed, which was called "realistic narration". This narrative style, after the arrival of the realism school in Iran, was also welcomed by Iranian storytellers. Ebrahim Golestan, a famous writer and filmmaker, is among those who, influenced by American fiction, especially the works of William Faulkner, has been able to achieve such a style in his fiction works with artistry and skill in processing the structure. In this article, after the introduction about the origin of the science of narratology, mentioning the definitions of the narrative structure of the story, the origin and transformation of realism in the West and Iran, we will explain the connection between these two structural and content categories by examining the characteristics of the "realist narrative" style and show the manifestation of this type of narration in the analysis of some fictional works of Ebrahim Golestan by citing examples.
