Since its inception, comparative literature has gone through various periods and theories. The theorists and thinkers have defined and explained comparative literature according to their environmental conditions and according to their view, purpose and knowledge of literature, and have looked at the literary works of nations either from a level perspective or from a subordinate or superior perspective; But the comparative literature, which is sometimes interpreted as "universal literature" or, in the words of the German poet Goethe, "world literature" (Weltliterature), with any kind of look and from any angle of view, is a knowledge arising from the ethnic or national spirit, and in other words, the common and agreeable knowledge of the minds of nations is the result of their connection and great common heritage. This common knowledge of nations has been evident and customary before announcing its official and academic emergence in universities, in commercial relations between nations, in travelers' travels, through translation, and even through ominous and destructive phenomena such as war. Because every nation had and has a share in the formation of world culture and civilization, comparative literature became the common heritage of nations; Therefore, many countries have defined or interpreted the concept of comparative literature from their own point of view and have set principles and standards on it. This article tries to examine the most important and influential styles (such as French, German, American, Eastern European, etc.) and address the issue that "What evolutions has the concept of comparative literature undergone through various stages"? And what are the influential elements in its creation and expansion? So that on this basis, the place, importance, contribution of Persian literature in the great common heritage of nations and the level of global interest for it will be measured and known.
